Is such an amazing film.
I prefer it's version to all others, and (this is blasphemous) but I also prefer its telling to the bible's.
Ok, in the bible Moses is 40 when he LEAVES Egypt, and 80 when he RETURNS to free his people. I just find that ridiculous. 80 years old? I find that the bible, especially the old testament, has an obsession with the number 40. They have everyone living to be four score. He was 120 when he finally died.
All these 40 yrs... like, that's a lot of time. ESPECIALLY back then when people usually only lived to be about 50 tops...
Anyways, yeah, I love that film. It brings such humanity to these giants of history, has amazing animation, moving orchestrations, and just generally rocks.
The opening scene- which is my fave scene, actually.
Cast-
Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes (who does his own signing and is very impressive), Michelle Pheiffer, Danny Glover, Patrick Stuart, Helen Mirren, Jeff Goldbloom, Sandra Bullock, Steve Martin, and Martin Short.
